Welcome back to The becoming the big knee podcast. I'm your host
Speaker:Djemilah Birnie and you are tuning into minute madness, a
Speaker:little dose of epicness delivered in five minutes or
Speaker:less.
Speaker:What What's up, you guys, it's Djemilah Birnie here and today I
Speaker:wanted to talk to you about the details and the importance of
Speaker:the little things. Now, I know that you have all heard that how
Speaker:you do one thing is how you do everything right? Well, I want
Speaker:to kind of expand on that a little bit more. So a lot of
Speaker:times in our lives, we kind of let those little things slide,
Speaker:let's think of like the small things like making your bed or
Speaker:doing your dishes every night, or, you know, put finishing your
Speaker:load of laundry, starting the laundry, doing the laundry, and
Speaker:then finishing the load and putting it away, right. So where
Speaker:the discipline where you are really training your brain to be
Speaker:better comes in all of those little things that might feel
Speaker:insignificant, um, in to that you are completing, because it
Speaker:shows that you are focusing on those little things, and you
Speaker:have that discipline. So I have a list of the things that I have
Speaker:to do
Speaker:every day. So before I go to bed, I have to do all of the
Speaker:dishes, I have to have a clean sink, that is my completion of
Speaker:the day. So I'm normally really exhausted when I'm doing this
Speaker:task. And even if there is like just one or two dishes in the
Speaker:sink, I could easily just be like, Oh, it's you know, it's
Speaker:fine. I can just do it in the morning while I'm making
Speaker:breakfast. Because when I do this final no dish saint kind of
Speaker:completion of my day, is after I've already been working all
Speaker:day, I've been up since five in the morning. And I typically do
Speaker:two workout today. And my second workout I do at nighttime around
Speaker:nine. So I finished that workout around 10. So I am absolutely
Speaker:exhausted by the time I get up to go to bed. And when I come in
Speaker:from that workout, I'm so tired. And all I want to do is just lay
Speaker:down. But I make sure to do those dishes, whether there are
Speaker:just is just one dish, or whether there's an entire sink
Speaker:full of dishes, I make sure to have that sink clean, because
Speaker:that is an indication for me that my day is complete. That is
Speaker:kind of my little little task of the day that shows me all right,
Speaker:your day is done. And you may now go to bed and start getting
Speaker:ready for bed. And what that does is it helps build that
Speaker:mental fortitude, it helps build that mental toughness that even
Speaker:when you are so tired, you're still focused on those little
Speaker:details, you will still go that extra mile and do the little
Speaker:things because over time, the little things compound into big
Speaker:things, little by little a little becomes a lot, right. So
Speaker:if these little tiny things every single day over and over
Speaker:again, when we do them, they become a lot. And what this is
Speaker:doing is training your brain to complete those little details
Speaker:that may seem or feel insignificant in the moment, but
Speaker:actually have a great impact over time. So the other thing is
Speaker:like making the bed so I always make my bed in the morning that
Speaker:is like that's me completing that cycle of sleeping like my
Speaker:sleep ends when I make the bed. And then that's triggering me to
Speaker:go into the day to start my daily activities. And it's just
Speaker:a very small thing that only takes a couple of moments. Yet
Speaker:it takes a lot of discipline, because I could easily just like
Speaker:it's not that important, but it is because when we see it, the
Speaker:effect that that has on our subconscious mind of having a
Speaker:clean space of having a made bed of having a clean sink is a lot
Speaker:Okay, as opposed to seeing that mess. And our makes our brain
Speaker:feel more behind which is kind of a weird concept because it's
Speaker:such a small thing, but I'm telling you, it works. It really
Speaker:really does work. So remember, little by little, a little
Speaker:becomes a lot those little details, those little things
Speaker:that might seem insignificant, might just be the most
Speaker:significant things.
Speaker:getting to where you want to go and training your brain to
Speaker:become and do the hard things that will get you to where you
Speaker:want to go.
